General Resources

This page will host links to online resources suggested by Rofft staff. There are an increasing number of websites and resources tailoring activities and lessons towards home learning.

Official Welsh Government advice to parents and carers on Distance Learning can be found here, including guidance to support families to stay safe, healthy and learning.

From Monday 20th April, BBC Bitesize will be doing a daily timetable of lessons. We will keep adding and amending this page, so do check back regularly for new ideas.

Health and Wellbeing

Real PE at home is an online version of a scheme we use in school which supports families to be active, play and learn together. It includes a programme specifically for children in Foundation Phase focussing on family play and fun. It also includes a programme for children in Key Stage 2, with daily and weekly guidance. We hope that the ideas help support you and your family to stay fit and healthy in the coming months. Here are the details to access real PE at home:

The website address is: home.jasmineactive.com
Parent email: parent@theroftsch-1.com
Password: theroftsch

Joe Wicks PE is a great way to start the day. “The nation’s PE teacher” is doing at 30 minute workout at 9am each morning on YouTube.

Change 4 Life is a great website from the NHS that has lots of healthy recipes that children can get involved in making. There is also an activities section with lots of fun games and shake-up activities that will encourage the whole family to get moving and stay healthy.

Languages, Literacy and Communication

During the school shutdown, author and illustrator James Mayhew is doing a story time at 3pm every day on You Tube. Ideal for Foundation Phase and anyone interested in illustration.

Nicola Davies is doing a similar thing – sharing readings of her books with explanations of their inspiration. Nicola is a favourite author in our assemblies and will appeal to all ages. As a zoologist, lots of her books have a scientific element, like this one about DNA…

Author Matt Brown is live reading his funny books every weekday. Starting with Aliens Invaded My Talent Show (a favourite book in Year 4) these are hosted on Facebook.

Into Film, a company that supports film education – both appreciation and creative filmmaking – are making a weekly list of the best family films to watch and stream on TV. Activities available for some films.
